Monetary Authority of Singapore has announced that in mid-2013 will be issued a new series of circulation coins (click image to enlarge). Coins of previous series have been around for more than 25 years, will not be put out of course.
All five new types have at obverse the coat of arms of Singapore, while the reverse depict:
- 5 cents: Esplanade theater;
- 10 cents: housing (where lives 80% of the citizens of Singapore);
- 20 cents: Singapore-Changi airport;
- 50 cents: port of Singapore;
- 1 dollar: Merlion, a statue symbol of Singapore, with the head of a lion and body of fish.
